You make good points, Jonathan, and we're glad to have you on board.
I may not have been as articulate as I could be. The point I was making is not so much that these pols are "linked" with Elmasry, but that by their - in some cases benign indifference, and in others, outright hostility, - have created an atmosphere that is utterly toxic to other groups in Canadian society, like the Jewish community.
Elmasry who is a professor at the U of Waterloo and president of the Canadian Islamic Congress, has been given platforms in different mainstream media, and now feels comfortable enough to spew the kind of venom that he did on the Michael Coren show. That to me is a bellwether of the kind of slippery slope we now find ourselves on.
