Jonathan, does it matter even if Elmasry's organization is not the biggest? I guess I don't see the relevance.
As you yourself said, he certainly is the most quoted as speaking for the Islamic community in Canada.
I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "hysterical". If there is anything not defensible, then please let me know. The rantings of Carolyn Parrish, Pat O'Brien and Jim Karygiannis are well-documented and most certainly do give an air of respectability to some pretty extreme views. When an unstable hatemonger hears a member of parliament (especially one who is endorsed by the prime minister, as is the case with Parrish) articulating his own baseless hatreds, it is much easier for him to speak up.
I agree that "The Liberals do have to be confronted, carefully, wisely, with facts". Has that not been the case? If the facts lead to an accusation, so be it.
