Elmasry represents the will of a lot of people living in Canada today. He is not some lone voice crying in the wilderness, otherwise why would he be head of one of the biggest and most influential Islamic organizations in the country? He didn't take CIC over by coup. He was elected.

And if he were an extremist nutcase, then why do I see his face on countless television programs and in the Globe and Mail speaking on behalf of Islam? Why are his views so acceptable to the mainstream?

Would you not be suspicious of a political party that has the endorsement of such a man, and see merit in a party that he views as a threat?

I am not being partisan here, other than to a principle that says the kind of hatred that this guy has spouted for years is wrong, and those who vigorously oppose it are right.

-----------------------------------------------
Who exactly does he represent? Do these people really know of his extreme views? How then do you explain that Stephen Harper was a guest speaker at one of Elmasry's functions? Does this make Harper a supporter?

I think people are getting sucked in by an erudite and dangerous blowhrd. That includes the Globe and Mail in my books that gave him unecessary credibility. I think his days are now numbered.
