I'd like to commend Excalibur for publishing this necessary apology, as indeed the headline did not reflect the article or the attack itself, which distorted my article to a different meaning.
I'd like as well to make a few comments.
The information mentioned in my article, including the age of the students, are not linked in any way to those who were murdered in the attack. I was clearly talking about the school itself, where I have mentioned valid information from trusted sources.
My article is backed up with valid sources that confirm all the information I mentioned in my article. I never stated that some or all its students serve in the Israel Defense Forces.
My article is an attempt to posit an explanation for why the school was targeted from the alleged perspective of the Palestinian population, and it is indeed not offering a justification for murder. I have completely avoided showing favouritism to either side and prejudicing a peaceful manner trying to cover the Palestinian point of view.
I have never pointed to myself in this article; therefore, I'd like to confirm that I have never used the verb "I" in my submission. The editor changed my original wording from "No wonder why Ala'a Abu Dhaim" to "I'm not surprised that Ala'a Abu Dhaim."
Again, Excalibur's apology is much appreciated.
